ISO 5659-2 ASTM E662 Flammability NBS Smoke Density Test Chamber For Plastic
NBS Smoke Density Test Chamber Introduction:
The plastic smoke density test system is developed in strict accordance with the ISO 5659 international standard. It can work with a conical radiation heating furnace to achieve precise adjustment of the thermal radiation intensity in a wide range of 10-70 kW/m² to meet the needs of different test scenarios. The system adopts a horizontal sample fixing method, which supports the accurate determination of the material mass loss rate under the condition of a high heat flux of 50 kW/m², which fully complies with the latest IMO fire protection test specifications. Through this device, the optical density of smoke generated when the sample is subjected to vertical exposure with or without ignition flame in a closed test chamber at a standard radiation intensity of 25 kW/m² can be quantitatively evaluated. The specially equipped conical radiation source supports users to make stepless adjustments between the basic value of 10 kW/m² and the limit value of 70 kW/m² according to experimental needs, providing a standardized test platform for the study of fire protection properties of polymer materials in the fields of ships, rail transit, etc.
NBS Plastic Smoke Density Test Chamber Standards:
• ASTM E 662 : Standard Test Method for Specific Optical Density of Smoke Generated by Solid Materials
• ISO 5659-2 : Plastics-Smoke generation -Part 2: Determination of optical density by a single-chamber test
Sample thickness: maximum 25mm
ASTM E662 standard: maximum radiant heat 25 kW/m2
ISO5659 standard: maximum radiant heat 50kW/m2
Function of NBS smoke density tester: Test the density of smoke generated when the material burns, mass loss rate, and other parameters to characterize the flame retardant properties of the material.
NBS Plastic Smoke Density Test Chamber Installation Requirements:
Dimensions | 1600 (W) × 820 (D) × 2150 (H) |
Weight | About 350 kg |
Electrical requirements | Power supply: 220 V AC, 60 Hz, 15 A |
Gas source requirements |
Compressed air: Provide a minimum air pressure of 0.5 MPa, M6 quick plug; Propane gas: Provide a minimum pressure of 0.5 MPa, M6 inner diameter explosion-proof gas pipe; |
Ventilation requirements | NBS smoke density tester is equipped with an exhaust device to exhaust the smoke in the box at the end of each test, with an exhaust volume of 50 L/s. Waste emissions must comply with relevant national regulations and local waste emission regulations. |
NBS Plastic Smoke Density Test Chamber Feature:
1. Integrated body and 19” analysis rack (Saving space).
2. 17” touch screen panel type PC for the whole control and automatic testing.
3. Air cylinder type movement to load sample or automatically open the up/down vent(highly resistant to pollution from test).
4. Coating of the test chamber convenient in cleaning and resistant to chemicals.
5. Lock designed to close the chamber door at a time.
6. Indication of transmission rate and smoke density with improved accuracy.
7. Chamber preheat system to facilitate test with more accuracy.
8. Safety blow-out panel system to protect user when pressure is sharply increased during test.
9. Port, heated filter, and heated line to measure toxic gases.
10. Manometer gauge with increased accuracy by using the MFC(Mass Flow Controller) and DPT(Differential Pressure Transducer) enabling auto leakage test.
11. Portable water cooling system without need for waterworks and plumbing when using the Heat Fluxmeter (for ISO 5659).
12. Load cell with increased accuracy to measure mass loss rate in ISO 5659 test.
13. SB 2005 DAQ(Data Acquisition) Program to control the use of touch screen panel PC.
