The EN 13823 Single Burning Item (SBI) tester is a critical European standard (EN 13823:2020+A1:2022) within the Euroclass fire classification system (EN 13501-1). This equipment evaluates the fire reaction performance of building products (excluding floorings) by measuring heat release rate, smoke production, and flame spread under controlled conditions.

Design Principle

The test specimen (two vertical wings at right angles) is exposed to a propane flame (30.7 ± 2.0 kW) from a main burner. The 20-minute test evaluates heat release, smoke production, flame spread, and combustion droplets/particulates.
